Welcome
Welcome fellow car enthusiasts! In this blog I will be telling you about some of the most important things you need as a car enthusiast. We’ll touch on things you’ll need to work on your car, amazing apparel that will allow you to express your love for cars, and even a few performance mods that are absolutely essential for any project car. Let’s Begin!
Tools, Tools, Tools
This is pretty obvious and that’s why we’re putting it first. Every single car enthusiast needs tools. A socket set is essential for working on your car. A couple socket sets I recommend are the Milwaukee Socket Wrench set that you can find on Grangier.com. A slightly cheaper option is a DEWALT Mechanics Tool Kit and Socket Set. Torque wrenches are also very important, especially when working on an engine because every single bolt needs to be tightened down to a certain point, and torque wrenches help you find that exact point. One of the best bang for your buck torque wrenches is the TEKTON ½-Inch Drive Click. It delivers 10 to 150 Foot/Pounds of torque. Besides wrenches and sockets, some basic tools you’ll need would be something like a rubber mallet if you ever need to get things unstuck for example, screwdrivers to pry things apart if need be.
Clothing Essentials
Canyon drives, car shows, and rallies, are all a part of being in the car community and being a car enthusiast. But those can get very cold, especially driving through the canyon. Dressing warm is essential. Any pullover or crewneck works great, but wouldn’t you want a shirt that helps you express your love for cars. Cars and Crewnecks does just that. We’re designing high quality, comfortable, and affordable crewnecks and hoodies with designs of cars on them. They’re perfect for cruising around town, ripping it through the canyon, or wrenching on your car on cold nights. It’ll keep you warm and looking stylish at the same time. We’re currently working on sweatshirt crewnecks right now, but here’s a shirt we’ve designed. Buy it now!
Jack it Up ( Floor Jacks and Jack Stands)
The small jack that most cars come with just does not get the job done. They’re cheap and can get damaged too easily. A floor jack and jack stands are extremely helpful when working on your car and are better than the crappy one you have in your car. They allow you to lift your car up and make it much easier to get under there and work on those hard to reach places. The Pittsburgh 3 Ton Floor Jack is my choice. It’s high quality and can lift a lot of weight, 6,000 pounds! Jack stands keep your car lifted and allows you to lift other areas of the car with your floor jack. The jack stands I recommend are the Daytona 3 Ton Heavy Duty Ratcheting Jack Stands.
Heavy Duty Gloves
Heavy duty gloves are a lifesaver, and a hand saver. Cuts, bleeding, and jammed fingers are inevitable when working on a car. You’ll be trying to get a bolt loose, your hand will slip, and smack right into a sharp piece of metal. It’s even worse in the cold. Thankfully, the right pair of gloves kills those two birds with one stone. The Vgo 1-Pair Heavy-Duty Synthetic Leather Work Gloves are perfect for working on your car. They even have touchscreen capabilities, so you can access your phone without having to take them off! Another good option are the Uline Heavy Utility Gloves for roughly the same price.
Suck On This! (Cold Air Intakes)
Cold air intakes are one of the easiest ways to give your project car a little more power, engine performance, and even some cool sounds. A cold air intake is an aftermarket intake system for your car. They cool down the air that your car is sucking in. The cooler air makes it denser, meaning your car is sucking in more air and in turn making more power. There are several to choose from. K&N is the best brand to choose when buying a new intake, they have plenty of options for any car. They’re relatively cheap and easy to install. Just go to knfilters.com and plug in the year, make, and model of your car and they will show what filter is best for that car.
Exhaust Systems
A new exhaust system is pretty much a rite of passage into being a car enthusiast. Granted, some cars sound better than others, but that’s besides the point. A new exhaust is an easy way to make power and make a whole lotta sound. Prices can range drastically for an exhaust because it all depends on how crazy you want to get. Some people will get a new performance muffler to give them some power and some nice sound. Others will get a full performance system with new headers, downpipe, mufflers, and exhaust tips. Magnaflow is a perfect candidate for both a muffler and an entire system.
Thermo Flasks and Tumblers
Thermo flasks and Tumblers are perfect for car shows. You can carry them around while looking at cars as it keeps your water, soda, Gatorade, whatever it may be, cold. Cars and Crewnecks is not only making amazing shirts but will quite possibly release thermo flasks and tumblers.
Hats on Hats on Hats
Hats not only tie together an outfit but let you rep your favorite car companies even when you’re not around your car, or even if you don’t own that car. There are plenty of designs but here’s one from the Cars and Crewnecks Apparel Company:
